We are looking for volunteer attorneys, interpreters, and community members willing to participate in participatory defense and community resistance.
COMMUNITY MEMBERS:
PODER is engaged in community resistance and organizing. This not only means asking questions like "how can our local institutions do more to keep immigrant communities safe?", but actually identifying answers and campaigning for changes across our community.

PODER's work involves identifying and engaging in strategies to build power and affect real change in our communities. It also involves supporting people who cannot protest or engage in
other means of resistance because of their immigration status, and finding resistance tactics that vulnerable people can engage in safely.

These are challenging, frightening, and often overwhelming times. However, we are not powerless. We will not stop organizing and demanding change. PODER is engaged in advocacy with cities, counties, school districts, and other institutions to implement policies that protect immigrants in our community. Join us!

In addition, PODER uses a participatory community defense model to support community members placed in removal proceedings. This means involving families and community members in defense strategies and efforts. We welcome volunteers who wish to support people in court.

We are also training people to train their communities to Know Your Rights. If you are interested in learning to teach Know Your Rights Materials, let us know!
